Macon Music Revue captures the grit and groove that put Macon, Georgia on the American music map. The five-piece band channels Little Richard’s uninhibited howl, Otis Redding‘s raw emotion, and the slow-burning blues of the Allman Brothers Band, and digs deep into the catalogs of these iconic hometown heroes, showcases the venerable Capricorn Records‘ roster – Marshall Tucker Band, Wet Willie, Sea Level, Johnny Jenkins, Boz Skaggs and more – and explores the city’s deep connections to James Brown, Atlanta Rhythm Section, R.E.M. and more.
The essence of soul and Southern rock flows through the roof-raising vocals of Charles Davis, the blues-soaked guitar and slide work of Danny Circharo, Ethan Hamlin’s Hammond church organ swell, and the easy, unhurried pocket held down by drummer Caleb Melvin and bassist Evan Bentzel — a rhythm section that understands instinctively that Macon never needed to rush.
This performance is part of the Decatur WatchFest ‘26 concert series bringing big names as well as local and national artists to the Decatur Square throughout the 34 days of the FIFA World Cup 26™ tournament.
